HOW DO I GET STARTED?
Telephone, email or text/WhatsApp me in strictest confidence to arrange an initial appointment.
Your first appointment is to find out if counselling is going to be helpful to you and for you to find out if you’d like to work with me.
I will listen to what has been troubling you and what made you decide to contact me. I will ask you some questions about yourself, your background and how your difficulties are affecting your life and general wellbeing.
If it is felt that counselling with me isn’t going to be the best form of help, I will try to refer you to something more suitable.
HOW MANY APPOINTMENTS WILL I NEED?
After your first appointment, if you decide to progress, I would usually suggest meeting for 6 further appointments and we would review whether the difficulties that brought you to counselling are sufficiently resolved. It may be that you’re happy to end there or it could be that further counselling would be helpful.
For some people, one or two appointments are all they want or need, equally some people prefer to work for much longer. Particularly if their issues are more deep seated or complex.
I offer day and evening appointments. We will, if possible, meet at the same time on the same day. Establishing regular sessions is important to facilitate, and give momentum to the therapeutic process. Most people find that weekly contact provides a sense of security and continuity whilst they are working on their emotional difficulties. All sessions are confidential and records are kept securely.
AND WHEN?
I see clients in my comfortable, discreet consulting room based on the first floor at Fairford Leys Doctor’s Surgery. There is ample parking through the arch and to the right behind the surgery and easy access via public transport. My consulting room is accessible by it’s own private entrance.
ONLINE AND TELEPHONE COUNSELLING
Sometimes people find it difficult to find the time for face to face therapy. This is can be due to location, long working hours/work travel, mobility issues or difficulties around childcare. Others may simply feel more comfortable in their own environment.
To meet this need, I provide counselling via secure video conferencing.
The only things you need are a private space, a good internet connection (good enough to stream YouTube or Netflix) and a computer, laptop, tablet or smartphone. I encourage the use of headphones or earphones to increase the feeling of privacy and improve sound quality.
For those uncomfortable with online therapy, I also offer telephone counselling. I am fully trained in both online and telephone counselling and the same code of ethics used in face to face counselling applies.
WHAT ARE THE FEES?
The fees are £70 per 50 minute session for individuals and £85 per fifty minute session for couples. I am happy to discuss fee reductions for clients who are unemployed, low waged or students. Please ask. Fees can be settled by cash or bank transfer.
